A Journey of Love, Loss, and the True Wealth of Life
Updated: Dec 22, 2023
This story isn't only about me, it goes beyond that. Many people face similar situations in their lives; everyone has problems. But blaming parents for what happened to you in the past doesn't determine who you are.
What truly defines you is the sheer power of forgiveness!

“The phone call from your Mom which you are ignoring today, might be the last one tomorrow!"
I feel lucky to have grown up in a family where my parents showered me with love and care. Everything I have in life is because of them. When I was 15, I left home, and since then, my parents have been far away. That's hard; it's not easy. Sometimes I cry, but I think that's how life is. Life isn't fair to everyone; if it were, we might not feel the need to turn to God for support during tough times.
During college, I was mentally and physically abused. I was humiliated every day for not choosing a regular course and for picking something beyond my financial means. I spent many nights sleeping at railway stations and bus stops, crying silently. I never had the courage to ask my parents for help. Some strangers gave me pity coins, thinking I was a beggar. I used public toilets to shower and attend college.
But this blog isn't just about me.
We have started chasing money at such a fast pace that we have left our parents behind in the race. The average human life is 4000 weeks, That's it! It's just 4000 weeks! The phone call from your Mom which you are ignoring today, might be the last one tomorrow! Life is way shorter than what you think my friend. If your parents are with you, you are wealthy already! Period! It's a true blessing!
We plan big gifts for our spouses on birthdays and anniversaries, but how often do we think about our parents? Are they happy? Are they really happy or are they scared to share their problems? You have already failed in your life if they haven't.
Keep them actively engaged and involved in your life like a magnet, don't retire them. Old clothes and accessories retire after a certain age, parents don't! Keep them at the center of every decision of your life and see how your life blossoms. In the final quarter of their life, let us give them a fair chance to discover their happiness and be true to what they love. It can be a Holiday or a Pilgimage or Gold, just go for it even if you think, you don't have enough money. I bet you won't regret it later. Someone rightly said that "Heaven lies beneath the feet of the mother", and you are just one step away from that heaven my friend! Who are you waiting for?
You are one decision away from a completely different life and that my dear is a superpower you've had all along. Go! just talk to them, if they are not around just pick up the phone and call them, talk to them every single day. No amount of money can bring them happiness, but your warmth and love can.
We often feel frustrated thinking about what our parents have given us in life, they didn't do this, they didn't do that. I say to them, your parents have done their best whatever they could do for your upbringing, and most importantly, they loved you then, and they still do. If you're still not satisfied, ask those who've lost their parents, you probably might get your answer.
People think the quality of their life is measured by the number of years of experience they have doing a thing. But I believe the quality of one's life is measured by the number of experiences we have in our years. Just having that interaction with my Mom is everything to me worth way more than any amount of money.
Life can be fulfilling and spiritually rewarding when you show love, respect, and care towards your parents.
May we all find the wisdom to recognize what truly matters in life and hold it close with utmost care and love.
Appreciate what you have, love & respect people and the world will be yours.
Much love and God bless! 😇
