The Time We Take for Granted
Life moves quickly, and it’s easy to take moments for granted—until we face loss. This blog is about the lessons we learn through love and grief, reminding us to appreciate what truly matters.

“When you lose someone you deeply love you don’t just lose them once. You lose them over and over again!"
When someone you love dies, you realise real quick just how much we take them for granted. Each day. Each breath. Each season. Each year. But death can happen in an instant. We all think we’ll die when we’re old, ideally in our sleep. After we’ve lived a full life and are content in bed. But in reality people die literally while talking, while they’re walking or after long battles with illnesses that have stripped them of any quality of life anyway. Death comes whenever it wants stealing time and joy away and leaving a path of destruction and heartbreak. There are no second chances. So how can we ensure we are actually living life when we are living?
What do you want to be remembered by?
We’re always running on the treadmill of life, trying to chase something bigger each day.
But do we actually want it? or do we want other people to see on Instagram that we have it?
The fastest way to take control of your life is to stop controlling everyone around you. You have no idea how much time and energy and attention you are wasting trying to control other people. You have no idea how much energy you are burning through, thinking about, worrying about, obsessing about what other people are doing, what they're not doing, what they're feeling, all of which you have zero control over. We are always worried about opinions. Like it's just unreal how obsessed we all are with everybody else and what they should be doing and what they're not doing.
Imagine you're sitting on your deathbed 50 years from now. Your breath is quick and shallow and you know that you're going to be gone in a matter of moments. And every opportunity that has ever been at your fingertips is now gone. And there's only one thing left for you and that's to die. You'll never see another sunrise. You'll never feel its warmth on your skin. You'll never hold your wife’s hand. Your kids have grown and their kids have grown and every day of your life has passed. And you're sitting here in this bed. At the end of it all, on this, the last day of your life. And then all of a sudden, your room fills with this glorious light and this angel appears and he offers you a chance, one chance to travel back in time, back to today, to live it all the way through.
You open your eyes and you're back in your young body. It's today. Now, hold that perspective. How would that change your attitude about the stuff that you're worrying about right now? Would you let anxiety about the future spin you out? How would you feel about your kids interrupting you or your wife asking you to help her with something? How would it open your eyes to the beauty all around you? How would you go through today if you had one chance to live it as if it was the full final day of your life?
Appreciate each day of your life; it’s precious! You never know when it might be your last.
When you lose someone you deeply love you don’t just lose them once. You lose them over and over again.
Be nice to people, it doesn’t take much!
Call your parents and tell them how much you love them. Life is too short for hate, complaining, or fighting. Let them know you're sorry—it's okay!
Much love and God bless! 😇
