A Mentor is all you need

I found my mentor at work and that changed my life forever. She has had a huge impact on my career and as a tribute to her, I’d like to share with you some of the lessons I learned from her over a period of time.

People are the best and worst thing that can happen to you. Some will help you grow and go further, while others will try to discourage you and pull you down to their level. But only a few people have the potential to change your life forever, and Soujanya is one of them.

In my limited foray into the corporate space - I have had the opportunity to experience a pretty expansive array of bosses, but she is different and that's what makes her very special.

She has had a huge impact on my career and as a tribute to her, I’d like to share with you some of the lessons I learned from her over a period of time about how to push people to excel, how to forge a collection of individuals with varying talents and drive into a formidable team, and most importantly how to positively influence people.

- Set the bar high and then push your team to raise it higher.

- Champion your people - helping people further their careers.

- Recognize your team's efforts.

- Positively influencing people's minds is an art; hard to teach, learn it.

- Passion ignites a fire within you, never let it extinguish.

- Continuous learning is a very challenging habit, and habit comes with discipline. It's a long journey, inculcate it.

- Never consider yourself lesser than others, you deserve it.

- Leadership qualities are extremely important, irrespective of your position at work. It boosts your confidence and decision-making abilities.

- Never shy away from voicing your opinion.

- Creating your backup is extremely important, it gives you that extra space for mentoring and growth.

- Always be in the driving seat, and never let others drive your life.

I have learned so much from my mentor over the course of the past 5 years and I will cherish it for my entire life. She guided me in my career path and also motivated me to perform better at work.

I strongly believe that my mentor Soujanya has transformed my life over the course of time and I consider myself lucky to find my mentor in her.
